Not Talkin' 'Bout Solicitations

In one of my odd self-imposed blogging rules, I don't "do" the solicitations thing. I just don't think there's much of substance to say about the Previews solicitations, aside from discussing marketing. All one can say is "might be cool" ... or you can indulge in umremitting snark. And I don't really do the snark here.

That said, something did catch my eye in November's DC Solicits:

BATMAN BLACK & WHITE STATUE INSPIRED BY MIKE MIGNOLA
Sculpted by Jonathan Matthews
A sought-after addition to DC Direct's collection of Batman Black & White statues, this collectible - based on the cover for BATMAN BLACK & WHITE Vol. 2 by Mike Mignola - presents a unique vision of the Caped Crusader. Painted in monochromatic tones, this limited-edition statue reflects the mood of Batman Black & White VOL. 1 and 2, the stunning collections of short stories by award-winning talent. The statue measures approximately 7.5" tall 4.75 " wide 3" deep, features a logo-shaped base, and is packaged in a black-and-white box.
Advance-solicited; on sale April 19 o Statue o $55.00 US

See, I know this guy. Call him a friend. I know for a fact his wife reads this blog, so I'm pointing it out.

His home office mainly houses McFarlane SportsPicks, but since returning to comics he'd like to showcase some nice comics-related figures. He recently purchased the incredibly cool Ultimate WWII Captain America figure, but hasn't found much else that would go nicely with it.

Though he's not a statue guy, this Mignola Batman might just be the piece he's looking for. It's absolutely stunning.

And it comes out April 19th! Just weeks before my birthday!

... His birthday. His ... my friend has a birthday just around then. That's what I meant to say.
