This Week's Shopping List: August 17, 2005

Not all that much I'll be picking up this week, though there is certainly good reading aplenty. I just picked up Small Gods 1-9 through a sale at Comic Book Galaxy, so it's good fortune that #10 hits the stands this week. I'm still on the fence with Green Lantern, but since I have #4 preordered through mailordercomics.com, I might as well give it through that issue. Though I didn't like Godland quite as much as Jim Roeg did, I'm going to give it a few issues to see if Kelly breaks free from a ill-fitting Stan Lee pastiche and into his own voice. I've thoroughly enjoyed Paul Di Filippo's prose work, so while I'm a newcomer to Top Ten I'm interested to see what he does in comics. I'm only reading Bendis and Maleev's Daredevil run in the hardcovers, so a new one will be devoured with glee. Of course, my most anticipated book is the new Klarion, as the Seven Soldiers project seems to be gaining focus with each issue.

  • Green Lantern #3
  • Seven Soldiers Klarion The Witch Boy #3
  • Top Ten Beyond The Farthest Precinct #1
  • Spider-Man House Of M #3
  • Godland #2
  • Small Gods #10
  • JSA Vol 9 Lost TP
  • Daredevil Vol 4 HC

yeah I'm still on the fence with Green Lantern too. I really liked Kyle Rayner, so it is hard to read them without him. Luckily Green Lantern Corps starts next week, so he'll be back in action. Maybe that will help me like the GL title more.

By the way, it's not on your list, maybe you should take a look at Birds of Prey #85 or at least read some spoilers. Gail Simone is making that book very interesting.
