Focused Linkblogging
- Barbelith has opened a Wiki for All-Star Superman, containing annotations for the first issue.(Thanks to Millarworld poster and all-around good guy "Burno".)
- Want to find some new sites on the WeboComicsBlogoNet? Go no farther than last week's Five For Friday, at The Comics Reporter. Glad to see some sites I really like getting some wider exposure.
- Comics World News is giving away a copy of the Elk's Run: Bumper Edition. Go there, and enter. Though you know another site that's offering it, don't you?
- Resplendent Beard is now available at Blogspot. What really caught my eye was this: "If you want to know where all the female comics fans on the Internet are, look at Livejournal." Are the communities of Livejournal and Blogspot really that different? It's all RSS to me, I'm afraid.

Fangirls seem to treat LJ as a refuge--there was a great deal of outrage of late over some people not liking slashy comments in scans_daily that took the form of "This is our space! They have the entire rest of the Internet to penis up!" I think it might have to do with the explicitly social nature of LJ, where you can not only hide things, but actively shun people who have pissed you off and reward those you like
That's fascinating. I'll be honest - I don't "get" livejournal or MySpace, somehow. I think you kind of get used to the internet you first experience, and I've been on since '93. moving past mirc and usenet was adjustment enough ... I suppose I just haven't quite grasped the social networking stuff. It also seems to skew young ... LJ is part of teen's lives now, wheras I think the oldsters do congregate around blogging.
Anyways ... I'm just glad the fangirls are somewhere. I'm trying to raise two myself, and am hoping that they'll not be alone.
