This Week's Shopping List: November 16, 2005
The weather's getting wintry here in Utah, but the Wednesday trip to 2005 Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award Winning Night Flight Comics is always a bright spot. Working in a home office is often trying enough, and diminishing sunlight doesn't help ... heading out for a beautiful drive and a visit to a friendly comics shop is a treat. I've also found an excellent coffee shop out here (which is harder that you might expect), and have added a one of the best mochas I've ever tasted to my weekly routine. Life is good.
It's not like I have made a secret about my anticipation for All Star Superman. With Quitely's pace, who knows when we'll see another issue, so I plan to savor this one like I savor .... something very, very savory. I'm just as excited about, and just as eagerly anticipating Nana. I've so many good things about it from various sources ... but I'm trying to temper my anticipation with the thought that it might not be there Wednesday. Mike will hook me up with a special order or a call to the other store, but I really should be preordering my shojo manga, as it tends to fall outside their usual stock. Also, I though Nana is listed on the confirmed list from MidtownComics which I use for these posts, it does not show on the NCRL. So who knows ... but it sure would be nice.
Besides those two titles ... well, there's everything else. It's really a heck of a great week, with titles like Local and Big In Japan, and creators like Matt Wagner, Dan Slott, and Ed Brubaker (twice!).
Perhaps I'll make that mocha a large.

Its so hard! In my continuing efforts to go to trades, I told myself that I was going to wait until they collected Deadly Genesis and Books Of Doom. Then again, its Bru who always writes such good, good stuff that isn't padded for the trade, defeating my whole argument for why you should go to trade.
Its like my head is going to explode.
Yeah, I'm trying at least to hold off on minis for the trades ... but Wagner and Bru break my resolve.
