A Happy Day
Suppose Hephaestus, with his instruments, to come to the pair who are lying side by side and to say to them, "What do you people want of one another?" they would be unable to explain. And suppose further, that when he saw their perplexity he said: "Do you desire to be wholly one; always day and night to be in one another's company? for if this is what you desire, I am ready to melt you into one and let you grow together, so that being two you shall become one, and while you live live a common life as if you were a single man, and after your death in the world below still be one departed soul instead of two--I ask whether this is what you lovingly desire, and whether you are satisfied to attain this?"--there is not a man of them who when he heard the proposal would deny or would not acknowledge that this meeting and melting into one another, this becoming one instead of two, was the very expression of his ancient need. And the reason is that human nature was originally one and we were a whole, and the desire and pursuit of the whole is called love.
-- The Origin Of Love
I don't often get personal on this blog, but 7 years ago today, I had a wonderful thing happen: I married my other half. I can't imagine life without her, and am thankful every day that our lives' strange twists of fate led us to find each other.

Congratulations!
My better half and I celebrated our 7th earlier this summer!
Congrats, Mark. Are you guys doing anything special for it?
Happy Anniversary!

Not unless you consider "caring for sick children" and "being sick yourself" special. :)
This Friday April and I will go out for a nice dinner (read: someplace where no chicken nuggets are on the menu) then go see Harry Potter.
Big time congrats - I'll double your number this next year and I can tell you it only gets better.
Must have been something in the air back then.
Getting married before society collapsed from the dreaded "Y2K Bug"? :)
A late congrats - hope you all had a good night.
Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary.
Happy Anniversary, Haaaaaaaaaappy Anniversary!
Hey, Mark: Happy (Belated) Anniversary! And what a beautiful quotation on love...

Thank you all for the kind wishes!
